Curse of the cup

Lynwood Socials have never won a cup game at home, ever. The last time a home cup game was played was back in 2014 where Lynwood came second best against division 1 side, Shamrock Rovers.

The odds are against Lynwood United this Sunday as they look to test themselves against a higher division and will be without key players, Calkin, Hornsby and Tony. However, Bararuhanya has put his hand up to be the man between the sticks and Phillips has been recalled after a good performance in the first round of the cup.

Tony, one of this year’s new signing has made a major impact for the team as he has scored 11 goals in 6 games. He has missed the last two games and was set to return to the line up but since he is flying out the next day he has pulled out incase of an injury. As Tony leaves his mark, His brother, Tommy, is ready to take over and fill the void his brother is about to leave.

Will Quy be able to lift the curse? or will Lynwood United fall short and receive their first defeat of the season?

Lynwood United Remain Unbeaten

Trauma of the 7-1 against Germany has not just destroyed the hopes and dreams of their national team but their West Australian club, Br0zzy SC, who sit bottom of Metro Div 2.

Even though Br0zzy SC sit bottom with no win to their name, Coach Quy knew not to take them lightly.

“Brazilian Boys, skilful individuals but tell me, is there an I in Team? You can see why they haven’t claimed three points yet. Just need to stand these boys up and not dive in. Simple.” Said Quy on Lynwoodunitedfc.com

Lynwood United had majority of the possession during the first half. Taking their time, waiting for Br0zzy to lapse that bit of concentration like a lion stalking a gazelle. Br0zzy’s back four were strong but reckless and gave Lynwood a shot at opening up the deadlock through a late tackle inside the box. Sahin stepped up and sent the keeper the wrong way. Lynwood 1-0.

Higgins and Wain, Lynwood’s two towering centre backs made sure nothing was getting past them but when the odd ball did get through, Austrian shot stopper, Hornsby, dealt with ease. Saving a crucial 1 on 1 to keep the score 1-0 to Lynwood at half time.

Crosses were constantly whipped in from both sides but Br0zzy’s keeper was in fine form but after cross after cross one was bound to slip through. Hew whipped in a perfect ball to the back post and Tommy Ton, fresh from a 2 day bender, popped up and headed home. Lynwood extended their lead.

With 25 minutes left on the clock, Lynwood couldn’t seem to find the back of the net but this didn’t phase them as they stayed in controlled. Br0zzy’s keeper pulled off the save of the season so far when Sieber smashed a volley that was stronger than Sieber himself on pre workout bicep curling 475kgs.

No fresh subs and Calkin needing to come off because of an injury, Coach Quy, kitted up and took the field. Hew delivering another cross hit London on the chest who finished cooly to end his drought. Not long after, London threatened the Brazilians down the right wing beating two then cutting it back to Quy who finished to open his account for the season.
